Day 5 of my holiday

We did intend to get up early this morning and head to St Michael's Mount and Lands End in Cornwall. However, when I woke up at 0530 it was pouring with rain and we'd already decided that we did not want to make the 120 odd mile drive in the rain. So I went back to sleep and it was almost frustrating that when I woke up again at 9am there was almost clear skies and certainly no rain. Still, not to worry it could not be helped.

After taking our time getting ready we headed to Dartmouth Castle. It was a fabulous drive down to the castle and certainly took you back in time down lots of country lanes and a couple of beautiful villages.

As for Dartmouth castle, well I confess to being a bit of a sucker for a good castle and a bit of history but I can honestly say I cannot believe I have never been there before. it is on the river Dart at the estuary out to see and in the most gorgeous setting. I loved the history of the castle and took some wonderful pictures.

We had lunch at the castle tea room and were lucky enough to be able to sit outside and eat and admire the view. I had a fresh crab sandwich and then shared a scone.

After lunch we drove round to Blackpool Sands. Why it is called Blackpool sands when there is no sand but singles I do not know but I guess Blackpool shingles does not have the same ring to it. However it was nice to spend an hour on the beach and hopefully my red face will go brown before long.

We drove back via Salcombe and Kingsbridge. Tonight we have had a quiet night in, watched the big brother eviction and I've had a nice shower and washed my hair. I certainly know how to live eh?

Food today:

Weetaflakes
Crab sandwich
Half a scone
Small ice cream
Fruit salad, WW ice cream tub
Walkers baked crisps
WW Rich toffee bar
WW cheese and tomato tart with salad
