Just the funniest thing happened today. We were in Dartmouth sat in the park just enjoying the ham salad rolls we had just brought from a bakery when a seagull dive bombed mum and went for her roll!!! As much as I tried not to laugh it was very funny and we would have all laughed if it had happened to someone else.
The day started for me when I woke about 0730. Although this may seem early to be getting up, it is a two hour lie in for compared to a normal working day. I had time to iron a few bits of clothes and get dressed before anyone else was up and whilst they were getting dressed I walked up to the shop at the main complex to get the papers.
I feel I should write a bit about the hill here. There are three parts to it, a gravel bit, a steep bit which levels out for a bit and then another very steep bit. Halfway up there is a toilet/shower block for the campers which has a bench outside. In the past I've had to sit on the bench for a rest (that was if I did not take the car up the long way round) but not anymore. I just kept on going so I guess that can be classed as a very good NSV.
After breakfast and a read of the papers we set off for Paignton. Our plan was to book a round robin trip (steam train, boat, bus) for later but there was one going in 8 minutes so we did that. We got a bus to Totnes which was good because we sat upstairs and saw over the hedges and some wonderful views. Then we got a boat from Steamer Quay, Totnes down the river Dart to Dartmouth. This was brilliant as the commentary pointed out lots of places of interest along the way (Agatha Christies house, villages etc). It was in Dartmouth that the "seagull incident" happened. We then crossed the river to Kingswear where we got the steam train back to Paignton. The steam train goes along the coast and you get to see some beautiful sights.
Once back to the lodges I decided to go for a walk / run around the whole complex as going to the gym was just too energetic. In the evening we put our glad rags on and headed up to the restaurant for dinner and a few drinks. We did not stay late though as all of us were tired and so again I was tucked up in bed by 2215.
Here is my menu for today
Weetaflakes (with skimmed milk)
Ham Salad roll (shared with mum after the seagull incident)
1 small ice cream
Handful of grapes
6oz burger with jacket potato and salad
portion of strawberries and a tub of WW ice cream (1.5points a tub and gorgeous)
