Despite all our intentions to set off on our holiday about 0930, it was almost 11am before the house was clean and tidy and everyone was ready to leave. The rain had been holding off but no sooner had we got into the car it started again, meaning I had to drive the first 80 miles at a relatively slow speed due to the surface water.
We stopped just west of Bridport for a toilet stop and to change driver before our rumbling tummies told us it was time to drive on. Our next stop was a nice little pub near Exeter / Exmouth called the Swans Nest. It is normally where we all stop on the way home for a carvery as I've never experienced a nicer one ever. Despite there being only 10 minutes of opening time left, I was soon sitting down with turkey, new potatoes and lots of veg. Oh, must not forget the stuffing, I love stuffing.
I think we were all so hungry that we ate in record time. Onwards to our destination it was and the rain decided to ease off a little. We arrived at Beverley shortly after 3pm and after collecting our keys we took the short drive down the hill to the lodges that were to become our home for the next week.
The past two years I have stayed in lodge 7. This year I was in lodge 5 which is odd because the layout mirrors lodge 7 so it feels like everything is around the wrong way. It was very clean and tidy and after unpacking we sat down for 30 minutes before heading to Sainsburys to get the basics such as tea, coffee, milk and bread.
We did plan to go up the club tonight but to be honest all of us were too tied. Instead we relaxed, had a couple of drinks, read a little, chatted, watched TV and I was sound asleep by 2200.
I'm not pointing this week but in my attempt to keep on the straight and narrowish I will write what I eat everyday.
Weetaflakes with skimmed milk
Roast Turkey, new potatoes, stuffing, carrots, peas, sprouts, cauliflower, runnier beans
6 or 7 sugar free wine gums
Turkey sandwich made with WW bread
WW cheese puffs
2 glasses of half sugar Bacardi breezer
